After living in Shanghai more than two years and creating and adapting dozens of recipes, I decided that I wanted a public forum to share what I've learned with others. I was also curious to see what my fellow Shanghai expat ladies were up to in the kitchen.

Thus was born Gourmet D.I.Y. Shanghai.

This is a blog all about making do, overcoming culinary challenges, getting creative, and taking advantage of the best that Shanghai has to offer food-wise!

My hope is that this blog will inspire other women to get out of their culinary comfort zone a little bit, help those that are new to Shanghai with ideas when they're saying "what the heck am I going to cook here?" and maybe even help all of us to eat just a little bit healthier as we share our preservative-free, from scratch recipes.
